Class 2 Autumn term newsletter and topic overview

Outdoor learning in Forest School - September 2017

The local area has been the focus term in history and geography. The class took part in a local walk where they had to look out for different features of their environment. They spotted churches, the Police Station, the Bowling Green, the park and many other features. They all enjoyed the walk.

To round off an exciting term of learning in Science, class 2 visited Techniquest . They found out all about constellations and night and day during their visit to the planetarium. Great fun was had by all finding out about all the exhibits.

We have been enjoying a topic all about toys (please see the overview for more information).

Key information for parents:

  • Please listen to your child read regularly and make comments in their yellow reading record. If your child needs a new reading book, they need to place their current reading book and reading record in the blue tray which can be found in Class 2. In class 2, children are encouraged to be independent with changing their books.

  • Class 2 visit the library every Tuesday. They need to bring their previous library book into school on a Tuesday to change it for a new one.

  • Show and Tell takes place every Wednesday. Please can children bring in one small object from home to talk about to the rest of the class.

  • Homework is set by Miss Snaith every Thursday. Every child has a piece of English and Maths  homework to complete on a weekly basis. These pieces of homework need to be handed in every Wednesday. In addition, Class 2 have half-term projects to complete in a separate project book.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to come and see Miss Snaith or Mrs Francis.
