Welcome back for the Summer Term!

There's so much to look forward to this term! We've got Young Voices to start us off in the first week, as well as the beginning of our Tuesday afternoon swimming lessons. We'll be starting work on our new topic - Stone Age to Iron Age and will also be doing some exciting reading work this term. Add in all of the fun with end-of-year productions, sports day and a fantastic trip at the end of May and you can see how busy we'll be!

NSPCC Number Day - Friday 4th February 2022

Welcome back to school for the Spring Term! This is sure to be a term full of lots of exciting learning and fun for Japan Class...

Our TOPIC this term is all about Mountains and Coasts and will see us becoming experts on the location and names of mountains and mountain ranges throughout the world; discovering how mountains were formed; finding out about life in the mountains; exploring the work of artists who painted mountains and also learning about the form and shape of coastlines and their features.

We're starting the term with some fractions work in MATHS and a study of biographies and shape poetry in our ENGLISH lessons, which will be themed around Historical Heroes.

We're very excited about the tennis coaching that will be happening in our PE lessons this term! Hopefully, Japan Class will be at Wimbledon standard in time for the summer...

It's certainly going to be a busy term! smiley

Please have a look at our class TOPIC WEB and our Topic KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER to find out even more about our learning. Both documents are linked on this page...

Making Victorian Mourning Brooches in clay...

The children looked at images of mourning brooches that were worn by people like Queen Victoria. They thought about shapes and patterns that reflected feelings of sadness and grief and designed their own, before having a go at making them in clay.

Friday 8th October

World Mental Health Day: Hello Yellow!

We've enjoyed taking part in lots of different activities today, exploring the ways that we can recognise and express our feelings and then find the most effective ways of managing them. We've learnt to do some slow breathing to help us feel calm and focused and the children have each made a 'Positive Self-Talk' flower to take home.

Tuesday 5th October

I challenged the children to create some dolls of people from the Stuart period at home. They could choose whether to represent the Puritan or the flamboyant French styles. Aren't these fantastic?

Our Class Assembly - Friday 1st October 2021

Friday 1st October 2021

Today is our class assembly and we are very excited to share it with the school and with our families. Our topic is called 'British Clothing from 1066 to the Present Day' and the assembly tells you lots of what we have learnt so far about different trends and fashions. There will be some photos soon!
