Spring term learning in Kandinsky Class
This term our topic is 'Growing and Changing'. We began this topic by thinking about how we change as we grow from a baby to an adult.
We enjoyed learning about the different parts of our body and singing songs, like 'If you're happy and you know it..'
We enjoyed thinking about what jobs we would like to do when we grow up!
Would you like to be a Firefighter or a Police Officer?
The children have loved learning about the type of birds that they might see in their gardens. They made their own bird feeders and then they have been spotting which birds visited their gardens!
The children also used their imagination to create their own 'Bird' artwork.
As part of our topic learning, we have learned about animals and their babies. We were surprised that the young of many animals is called a calf - including a cow and dolphin!
We had lots of fun, using our imagination to create our own pets, using a paper plate
We have been exploring our feelings and how we can recognise our feelings and deal with them appropriately. We thought about identifying things that make us feel happy, sad, excited, worried, angry and how being tired affects our mood.
RE LEARNING - CELEBRATING
This term, we have been learning about how the Parish family celebrates in church. We learned that there are lots of things in church that help us to celebrate special times, such as Baptisms and Weddings.
We enjoy celebrating with our families, especially our birthdays.
READ WRITE INC PHONICS
In our Literacy learning, we have been doing some fantastic reading and writing. During Zoom Phonics lessons, we say our sounds and 'Fred talk' lots of words together.
We are writing lots of sentences, 'Fred talking' our words as we write them
We have also been thinking about rhyming words and writing our own rhyming strings!
What fantastic Mathematicians the children in Kandinsky class are!
This term we have had lots of fun measuring objects and using amazing language involved in capacity, weight and height!
The children have been developing a deep understanding of the numbers 6, 7 and 8 - so that they recognise the numeral, but also understand that it represents a corresponding group of objects.
Don't forget to log on to Reading Eggs at home and play some fun games with your family!
