Our home learning is set each Friday via our 'Evidence Me' digital platform - maths and reading on one week, with SPaG set the following week. Each child has a CGP book in which to complete their learning. This work is to be done alongside their daily reading books and regular times tables practice.
A good website to practise times tables is https://www.timestables.co.uk/. As well as giving opportunities for learning times tables, the website also has the option of practising with a timer. As they grow in confidence with their times tables knowledge, the ability to practise with a timer should be helpful for them as they work towards their statutory multiplication tables check in the Summer Term.
We appreciate all the time, effort and encouragement you give to support the children with their home learning - it all makes a big difference.
Our PE lesson will take place every Wednesday - please do ensure that the children have their PE kit in school. As the months get cooler, do include joggers and a jumper. We are going to be using the field so it may get a little bit muddy!
For the second half of the term we will be doing swimming - this will also be on a Wednesday and will be our main PE lesson for this term. Please do remember to pack everything they need for this and arrive in school for 8.35am.
We had a great start to the term by taking part in a whole school walk. We thoroughly enjoyed our walk and exploring around Chase Wood.
We spent the first half-term exploring how God chose and called Abraham to be the father of a great nation through whom all families of the earth would be blessed. We thought through what faith is and how Abraham and then Joseph had faith and trusted in God. To help us identify what faith is we blew feathers and realised that even though we can't see air there is evidence for it - there is evidence all around us to show who God is and how faith is described in the Bible as, '..confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see..'.
We also looked at the life of Joseph and how his faith in God helped him through difficult times. Joseph's story taught us about faith, forgiveness and how God can bring good even out of hard situations. We made story cubes to help us remember key events in Joseph's life.
We have been learning all about electricity - exploring how electrical circuits work and identifying which materials are conductors and insulators. We have been building our own simple circuits using wires, bulbs, switches and batteries to see how electricity flows and powers different devices.
We have really enjoyed our writing module based on the book 'Float' - this is about a young boy who builds a boat but it does not all go according to plan when he takes it outside to play with. We each got to make a boat and thought through all the various steps and language used as we made these.
We all enjoyed being able to visit the Ross Community Garden where we were able to explore changes in the season and dig for potatoes! We also made lovely envelopes to store sunflower seeds which we took home to plant.
