    To promote literacy in our setting, we have a story of the week. The children sit down on the carpet together and listen well to the stories told. Some children even try to fill in the missing words or phrases of the familiar story. 

    We also promote literacy by mark making. The children mark make in lots of different ways such as in messy play with shaving foam, sand or gloop - enjoying the sensory experience of making marks. The children also use pencils and crayons on paper and colouring sheets.
