WELCOME TO ST JOSEPH'S HUMPHREY!
DECEMBER 2018
Humphrey, the labradoodle, is a new and long-awaited addition to our school community. Before long, he will be beginning his first set of puppy classes and, in time, will train to become a fully-qualified Pet Therapy Dog.

HUMPHREY'S 1ST BIRTHDAY!
January 2020 - Humphrey's training is going well and he behaved wonderfully when we had a photographer in school recently!
Learning to care for animals and treat them with kindness is an extremely valuable experience that children can then easily transfer to their relationships with other humans; it helps with developing empathy, understanding and respect for both their peers and adults.
At St Joseph’s, we feel it is important that pupils have this special opportunity to learn how to look after a pet and our children will all have the chance to take responsibility for aspects of his care. As he gets older and completes his training, Humphrey will be increasingly able to enrich the lives and learning experiences of the children at St Joseph’s. We expect him to have a very significant impact.”
For now, Humphrey is just beginning to settle in to the new environment and having the opportunity to meet the children and staff. As time goes on, the intention is for him to work alongside the children in a variety of different ways, helping with everything from their emotional development to their reading skills.
Humphrey will be a support, a learning opportunity and a friend for all of the children and the school is happy and excited to have him!
