Disney Class had a really fun day visiting Bristol Aquarium. The children had a guided tour where they learnt many interesting facts about the different creatures that live in the sea. This was then followed by lunch and then we had a chance to explore the aquarium by ourselves. They particularly loved the starfish, sea horses, hermit crabs, turtles, lobster and Suzy; a Grouper fish that was already very big but will grow to the size of a small car!
Disney Class had another wonderful visit to the library. The children each chose two books to take out and enjoyed spending time looking at the many lovely books available. Then then listened to two stories before returning back to school in time for our visit from Major Boyce.
As part of aspirations week, Disney class have been very lucky to have visits from Mr Kempshall an orthopaedic surgeon, Mrs Hodges a postwoman, Mr Harris, a professional goal keeper and Major Boyce, an army officer. They told us about what their job entails and the children had an opportunity to ask questions. They found it so interesting and were fascinated to learn about these jobs. In addition, the children had the opportunity to play in different role play situations in the hall as part of 'Little Play World'. So much fun was had by all.
In RE, Disney class have been thinking about Lenten promises. The children wrote their promises on a leaf and hung them on our Lenten tree.
I think you will agree the children all look fabulous dressed up as different characters for World Book Day. They have had a super day celebrating books and reading, making book marks and drawing and writing about the story character they have dressed up as, for the day. They each took a turn telling each other about who they have dressed up as and their favourite book.
Disney class have started their new topic in Science - 'Plant Detectives.' The children enjoyed exploring different types of seeds and looking at them through the magnifying glass. They looked at the differences and similarities between garden plants and we discussed where seeds come from and what they look like. We also watched a time lapse video of a seed growing. We will now enjoy watching our beans grow!
Rosa and Disney Class had a fantastic day on Friday celebrating NSPCC Number Day together. They took part in lots of fun and engaging maths activities including using Numicon, creating their own number sentences and even decorating NumberBlock biscuits! Lots of super learning was observed and it was great to see the two classes working so well together.
Disney Class had a fun day learning about Chinese New Year. They had lots of fun making some dragons and lanterns. They also wrote numbers to 10 in Chinese and did some Chinese New Year problem solving in Maths.
We were lucky enough to have Miss Jenn visit Disney Class. We had a wonderful morning producing some fabulous art work with Miss Jenn. The theme was 'My Herefordshire' and the children were invited to create a picture that represents what Herefordshire means to them.
We had fun using the Bee Bots in Disney class. We learnt how to put in instructions to make the Bee Bot move in different directions. We then made tracks and bridges for the Bee Bot to move through. Fantastic team work Disney class.
Disney Class had a lovely visit to the library today. The children enjoyed using their library cards to choose some books to borrow. There were so many wonderful books to choose from. They enjoyed reading some books and then listening to two stories before walking back to school.
